Maurice ROUCEL

Born in 1950 in Cherbourg, a chemist by training, he set foot in the world of perfumery when Chanel recruited him to set up a chromatography laboratory. He was then 23 years old and it was under the aegis of the perfumer “maison”, Henri Robert, that he began to learn his trade. He will then be hired by IFF and then joined PPF Bertrand Frères, later Quest, then Givaudan. After a stint at Dragoco, he now works at Symrise. A long journey that will bring out a simple, generous and sensual signature. A complete creator fascinated as much by ambroxan and muscone as by white flowers and especially the magnolia flower, he is a prolific creator with a free and adventurous mind, always in search of the very sources of olfactory emotions. His most famous creations include Tocade de Rochas (1994), Iris Silver Mist de Serge Lutens (1994), 24 Faubourg d’Hermès (1995), Envy de Gucci (1997), Musc Ravageur for Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle (2000), and L’Instant de Guerlain (2003).
