Dominique ROPION

Dominique Ropion was born in Paris in 1955. A perfumer at IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), he is the creator of a significant number of contemporary perfumery successes, from Ysatis by Givenchy (1984) to La Vie est Belle for Lancôme (2012). In this interview, Dominique Ropion passionately recalls his earliest scent-related memories and humbly reflects on the key milestones of his professional journey, from Roure to IFF. As a creator for forty years, he has shaped the bestsellers of today’s and tomorrow’s selective perfumery while also rediscovering the iconic fragrances of the past, recreating some of the most famous scents from antiquity.

Since the early 2000s, this enthusiastic creator has also collaborated with Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle (Vétiver Extraordinaire, 2002). At the end of November 2024, the renowned perfume composer launches Aphorismes, his own haute perfumery brand.
